Back in December, we were lucky enough to be invited to the Clifton Inn FAM Trip! We were definitely spoiled — we had the opportunity to stay in their luxury suites, enjoy their fine dining and really just get the full Clifton Inn experience!!!
The first night, they threw an amazing welcome dinner! The chef prepared a delicious 5-course meal complete with wine pairings. As we sat down to dinner, we could truly appreciate how intimate and beautiful the Clifton Inn is as a wedding venue.
Many wonderful vendors contributed to the dinner experience. Rock Paper Scissors created the custom watercolor invitations, itineraries and menu cards. MS Events provided all the rentals (we love their crossback chairs!) and —- decorated the space with beautiful florals. Jen Fariello Photography was there to capture all the best moments.
We have always cherished the Clifton Inn and the FAM Trip just confirmed our love for this beautiful and unique Charlottesville wedding venue. From the incredible cruise, breathtaking grounds and hotel, and warm and world-class service, the Clifton Inn is beyond amazing!
With only 2 days left until the holiday weekend, we wanted to share a fun way to decorate for your Valentine’s Day festivities! Whether you are throwing a single ladies bash for your girlfriends or want to spice up your home for your hubby, these DIY hand lettered Valentine’s Day balloons are super cute and easy to make! Check out our step-by-step tutorial below.
Step 1. Gather a few sharpies (we chose metallic silver) and a handful of mylar balloons (we purchased ours here). We love the heart shaped mylar balloons, but you can do any shape!
Step 2. Hand letter festive sayings onto the balloons with your sharpie! We decided to do a fun faux calligraphy look by emphasizing our downstrokes.
Step 3. Gather your beautiful hand lettered balloons and head to the closest grocery store for helium! You can also purchase your own helium tank.
Thank you all for an amazing 2014! Thank you to our wonderful, sweet couples who let us be a part of their big days. Thank you to our talented event partners who make it possible for us to execute beautiful and unique weddings. And thank you to our family and friends who support us along the way.
It has been a year of growth. After 8 years of running both weddings and corporate events under the Fête Studio name and brand, we felt the best way to strengthen our services was to separate our lines of business. Now, with our rebrand, Fête Studio is a junction for creative thinking and purposeful intentions and houses our three lines of business: Fête Weddings, Fête Design and ‘ello Paper. Our weddings have found their new home under Fête Weddings, and corporate events will now operate under Fête Design. To learn more about us, visit our site here.
We look forward to strengthening our relationships with you all as well as forming new friendships in the new year. The best is yet to come for the new Fête Studio!
Happy birthday, Wendy! Joyeux anniversaire! To celebrate, we threw a Parisian fête with red wine, french baguettes, cheese and fruits. Oh, and Wendy’s favorite dessert – macarons from Candy Valley Cake Company.
Anna and Ainsley both had the opportunity to take a calligraphy and watercolor workshop with the talented Stephanie Fishwick over the past weekend. The workshop, held at the historic Old Metropolitan Hall in downtown Charlottesville, was a full day of creativity and relaxation.
For the first half of the day, the girls learned the basics of Copperplate calligraphy. While Anna has been practicing calligraphy over the past year after attending Stephanie’s first workshop, we were thoroughly impressed to see Ainsley’s calligraphy skills flourish in just a few short hours.
During the lunch hour, Corbin Gurkin, an esteemed Charleston based wedding photographer, shared her secrets to styling and photographing finished stationery pieces to make the most of them on camera.
The last portion of the workshop was an introduction into sketching and watercolor. Mallory Joyce provided the students with beautiful still life vignettes and floral arrangements to draw and paint.
From Anna: As a graphic designer, I’ve always been interested in incorporating hand lettering and calligraphy into my work. I think hand produced typography adds such an organic and interesting contrast to digital design work. In addition to further developing my calligraphy skills, my favorite part of the workshop was the introduction into watercolor. I’ve always been interested in the medium, but haven’t had the right tools or instruction to get started.
From Ainsley: I love the art of calligraphy. There is something so beautiful about it, and I’m in awe of Stephanie’s talent. But I never thought that I could do it considering I have the worst handwriting–ever. Stephanie, though, was a great (and patient!) teacher and soon I was addicted! Mallory’s floral designs were simply amazing which made the watercolor painting that much more fun. I’m excited to keep trying my hand at calligraphy and watercolor!
We are honored to be named one of the top Virginia wedding vendors by Virginia Living Magazine for the second year in a row! A big thank you to our incredible staff, clients and event partners who made it possible.
And congratulations to all the other amazing vendors on the list – we wish you all the best in the 2015 wedding season…which is just around the corner!
